Forum Title: Anyone ever caulk between finish coats?
Good evening, Are there any disadvantages to caulking between finish coats? We've been replacing all the trim and going 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of finish. To eliminate the fumes and wet paint around the infant and pregnant mother I wondered if the trim could be primed and 1 coat of finish in the basement, then once dried, hung, nail holes filled, then caulk and apply final coat of finish. Our usual practice is to prime, then caulk, then apply finish. So this is would be a different procedure. Anyone ever do the caulking after the first finish coat? They are also thinking about switching to a satin on the trim as opposed to the semi we have been applying. Any input? Thanks G

I sure do! Sometimes you can't see the small cracks till after first coat! So we caulk and then second coat after. It's skinned over
